The Tower 2008		The destruction of The tower of Babel meant the confusion of tongues in a multitude of languages. Nowadays we speak one or more world languages. So I decided to build up the tower again. The trouble today though, isn't the language but what is being said. Therefore the clouded top of the tower.

The three philosophers 2008		In 2002 I painted this work for the first time. Then I used acrylics. For my 2008 exhibition I painted it again, this time in oil.

Aeolus 2008		Aeolus; god of the winds. On Curacao the wind blows always from the east. It is bound onto the land by Aeolus

Quarterback 2008		Four clouds painted on jute. Jute looks like the backside of canvas, hence 'Quarterback' A group portrait of four clouds

Momentum 2008		A cloud with sufficient momentum can bounce back from the earth

Intermezzo 2008		To fool the eye, I painted the frame (stretcher bars) on canvas, like it is hanging on a white wall. I painted the canvas hanging from a wire in front of the frame. The wire is real and the shadow hanging from the bottom of the painting is real (black cardboard)

canvas explosion 2008		Several canvasses glued and screwed together. On those canvasses I painted an explosion of canvasses. Exploding outward from the center. The center isn't visible.

Cotton candy 2005		Inspired by the overwhelming clouds of the rainy season

High Tide 2006		A rubbervine seedpod found near the Hato plains, seemed to me like a ship in the desert. Lured to all that water high up in the clouds.

Life after life 2006		In every life we take a little with us from our past life.

Finally refined (closed) 2006		(the triptych is closed) An eerie sight, the sky is lit by the flames of the catcracker.

Finally refined (opened) 2006		(the triptych is opened) If we wait long enough nature will take over the refinery.

A hummingbirds fantasy 2006		Inspired by the story of Don Quichote, this hummingbird is also a bit paranoia and thinks it is on Viagra.

Ora luna ta bari 2006		Ora luna ta bari: when the moon sweeps clean the heavens. An old saying on Curacao, meaning: Don't go outside when you see the light of the moon appearing but not the moon itself. If you do, you will meet monsters and maybe even the devil himself.

Memories of the future II 2006		All sorts of driftwood make the outline of the brain. The cloud represents the spirit that remembers things to come; the bent earth and the driftwood are one.

Twister 2006		A spiraling cloud above the Hato plains. Two stylized Dividivi trees squeeze the cloud to drink from her moisture.

Attached 2004		Me and my girlfriend and the love of my life that grows between us.

Self fulfilling prophecy 2002		Three vines holding on to three circular clouds. Like the ropes on a sailing ship that hold on to the sails to catch the wind. Here the clouds represent the wind in the sails.

Artificial Reef 2004		Inspired by the artificial reef of Porto Mari on Curacao. This artificial reef brings forth some artificial life forms

Goldfish 2002		For my 32nd birthday I got A bowl with two little goldfish in it. After two weeks they were dead. On this painting the fishbowl and alot of dead goldfish. Except for one, wich is just swimming around the corner

Heaven on earth 2003		Literally; clouds from heaven touch down on earth for a brief time, only to return to heaven again

The Kiss 2002		Body on earth, mind in heaven
